Qualifying

Last year Sankt Wendel was the worst GP of the year for me. It's where I hurt my knee and a place I just never got on with. Unfortunately this year proved to be very similar. I gave everything I had in qualifying and was only 1 second off the pace but that put me right down in 13th place and on this tight track where there are very little passing places, that is a total disaster!
Finished: 13th

Race 1

I had a pretty average start and first corner in the first race but then made some good positions over the off-road section and made my way up to about 9th place. I was still trying to go forward when an overtaking manouver went wrong and I went down. It wasn't so bad as I only lost a few places but the next lap the bike stopped on the off-road and then id the same a few laps later. Both times it dropped me back into last position. It was only a loose connection but that and the fact I really wasn't on the pace cost me dear.
Finished: 19th

Race 2

I got a pretty good start for the 2nd race and decided to try going round the outside on turn one. It was going to plan until Max Verderosa did a frontflip right infront of me and I had to take avoiding action. I then started to go forward pretty well and was getting a place a lap. Further into the race though and the different line I had on the off-road started to get a bit bumpy and was consequently slower and what was really strange was that my tyre (which was the same tyre I used in the first race) went off after only about 8 laps. I gave it all I had but it really wasn't good enough. I just don't know why I didn't have a good pace but it dropped me to 4th in the World Championship which really isn't where I want to be!

Finished: 11th

Track: Pleven, Bulgaria
Bike: Aprilia 550
Weather: Dry and mega hot!

Qualifying

The track in Bulgaria was unreal. It was totally new and they had built the off-road and the tarmaced over it. It really had to be seen to be believed and it was so much fun to ride. I was going prety well in the first 2 practice sessions and looked forward to the qualifying. After 4 laps on old tyres I was P1 and it was time to go for new tyres and try for a really fast lap. Some 20 laps later and I still hadn't improved my time and the one I had was now only good enough for 5th. Gutted!
Finished: 5th

Race 1

Race day saw a top temperature of 47 degrees. It was like riding into a hair dryer. The new circuit meant being off-line was not a good move as it was really slippery and I was a victim of that in turn one and came round in about 8th. By the end of the first lap I was up to 5th and made my way past Mariani to make a 4 way challenge for the lead. For a while we were really close but then Nestor began to drop off the pace and it was difficult to pass him. By the time I got through the gap to Delepine and Gozzini was a few seconds and although I tried all I could, I just couldn't catch them.
Finished: 3rd

Race 2

The start of race 2 was much better and I tucked into 2nd behind Delepine. A few laps later he made a mistake and I was like yeah but as he ran wide I followed him and Gozzini passed us both. Gozzini and I then made a gap over the rest of the field. I managed to pass Gozzini when he ran slightly wide going into the 'SKY' section. For the next few laps we were so close and that was most evident in the final step up where we had different lines. 5 laps to go and as we took off on that last jump our paths met. When we landed my leg was stuck in my back wheel and the bike locked solid and stalled. How I didn't crash I have no idea and how I didn't break my ankle is even more of a mystery. When I got going again I had dropped to 3rd. I got back up to 2nd and set off after Gozzini again but there was just too much gap in too little time

Finished: 2nd
