Deans update July
FURTHER TESTING FOR ELLISON AND TEAM PEDERCINI
British World Superbike rider Dean Ellison heads off to the Vallelunga circuit near Rome this weekend for the next round of official WSBK testing.
The two days testing has been scheduled for the 7th and 8th of July and will provide Dean with a great platform to work on both his and the bikes performance.
The test, which will be open to all the riders from the World Superbike and Supersport championship, will be the first chance for spectators at the circuit to see the stars of the championship at work, and it will also be the first chance for many teams to set-up their bikes for the track.
Dean hopes to use the test to work on his early race performance, which he believes has been a weak point for him at each round. In order to do this, Dean and Team Pedercini plan to run short stints of three to four laps with a full tank and new tyres, so that Dean can get a better feel for the bike as he comes in and accelerates away from the turns.
“Each race this year has seen me do my fastest laps at the end of the race but at that time it is too late, I need to go faster at the start and then maintain my pace until the very last lap” commented Dean.
The Vallelunga test will also give Dean the chance to test a new specification engine built by Donato Pedercini. The engine has been developed in order to give smoother drive out of the corners, whilst at the same time keep the top speed needed for the next round at Brno in two weeks time.
Dean added “After leaving the last race at Misano with two points I am working harder than ever to improve my race strategy, machine set up and fitness. I now have a new Motox/Supermoto bike supplied by J & L Motorcycles of Carlisle to help with time on a bike, as at the moment I am only riding a bike at the race meetings and at this level it isn't enough. I have also upped my training programme at the Leicester David Lloyd Health and Fitness club, the staff have given me a gruelling training plan that is definitely working.”
